One more day at home

one more day at home and i will be heading up to northern. i can't wait to finally claim my room for the next 9 months. i can't wait to see all my friends and go to church up there again. i am not looking forward to the snow and i guess the leaves are already starting to change up there. well write later

LESS THAN 24 HRS.

Less than 24 hours! tomorrow at this time (2:33 p.m) i will be sitting in the dallas airport ready to fly home! ahh i can't wait. we went on our last trash run and mopped for the last time. I moved up to piny woods for the night b/c all of my cabin mates left and moved out today! well next time i write i will be home p.s. might be a while i have lots of catching up to do

getting ready for horse show

Today has been a busy day in the kitchen, we are getting ready to serve 300 people on Saturday.
We had to wipe down shelves and little jobs to make the kitchen acceptable. It's hard to believe that on Tuesday I will be leaving, it seems like yesterday we got here. I got offered a job to come back next year as one of the nurse assistants, if all works out I will be here next summer :) which is exciting and worrisome b/c of the drama that we had this year. well whatever the Lord has in plan. next time i write i'll be sitting in my bed with my puppy by my side :) :) ttyl.

8 more days!

Today is my day off, it is my last day off until i head home. Next weekend is the horse show, and you know how much the kitchens like that. when i get home my sister Andrea and I are going shopping for clothes for school and apt. shopping. i can't wait. well that's all kinda boring around here. ttyl

what has happened in 13 days

we had midterm from the 13 to the 15th of July. I came back and the kids came on Wednesday. Thursday morning i woke up and I felt sick. I went to the nurses station and they gave me cough drops. She asked for my symptoms and that was the end. I was admitted into the quarantine with the other 12 girls. And i stayed there until Tuesday until I was on anti-biotic .

Today Rae Ann and I went on trash run. We got done with girls camp and we were down by the compactors and the car stalled and we figured out we had to get gas. WOO what a idea. haha. Then we finally got to the bear pit and there was three bears. One bear came down and Rae Ann and I got tons of pics, we honked the horn to get him to go away and it worked for about 2 minutes. then he came back. We got more pics and then we were like 10 feet away and we got majorly growled at. We were scared shitless and we got in the truck and rolled up the windows. we finally got the trash dumped and we came back to share our story.

oh what a beautiful morning oh what a beautiful day

Today was an interesting day, to say the least. This morning it was soo hard to get up. It made my head hurt thinking I had three meals left before I was done for the day. But thank goodness time flew by and now there is only one more meal left! I was lucky enough not to do trash today (we had soup yesterday) if that explains anything. well i decided that bathroom cleaning was going to be the highlight of my day. I strapped on those hot yellow gloves and started to clean. well i was almost done cleaning and i scrubbed the toilet and i was putting it away and one drop of cleaner shot into my eye. I thought oh CRAP! i ran to the sink in the kitchen and Karin helped me rinse it out. i then went to the nurse and they flushed it out even more. It is still a little red and it still burns a little but it will be better when i get married. hehe. well other than that tomorrow is my day off and i think i'm just going to bum around camp. i'll write later!

WOW only 5 weeks left

I can't believe that we only have a little over a month left! i am glad that this summer is coming to an end but it has been a great experience. It's taught me how to get along with different kinds of people and it has give me a chance to spread my wings and to become more independent. The past week I went into town on my day off, and on the 4th we had a nice meal for the kids and i watched the fireworks over the valley. it was weird to look down on them and hear the boom 30 sec. later. They saw the bear yesterday, but today he was not there.

Weather was chilly yesterday but it's very nice today. other than that. i'll write later <3

I SAW MY FIRST BEAR TODAY!

Today was an exciting day. It started off as a normal day would, dishes for breakfast, then to decide who is going on the sweaty and disgusting trash run. Well since Lark sprained her ankle, I was the lucky one. We did all the other trash and then off to collect the food. On the way to the pit we picked up Kawana and Linda. They had never been and everybody needs to see how fabulous the pit is! we get there and we look into the woods to see if there is any movement, we don't see any so we continue to dump our trash. we get back in the truck and start to pull away when Linda says, look over there it's a bear. Devin and I jumped out of the truck and we looked back in the weeds, and sure enough a big black bear was coming to eat the fresh ham we had just dumped. It was the coolest thing ever. Lark wasn't too excited since every time she doesn't go we see one. She will see one eventually, i just know it.
Well other than that. I have tomorrow off and if my allergies are better I may head into town and look around. Or i might just sleep. who knows! write later <3

Pizza for lunch and a walk around the lake

We had pizza for lunch today, and it wasn't the greatest. a lot of people liked it, i guess i've been spoiled as a child with my mom's cookin'. Well it finally is raining again, and i got my rain coat in the mail :) the color is cute, but i will have to get use to it. Tonight were going to lake Estes and out for ice cream, all of the support staff is going. i'm excited to get out and take pics of downtown. Every time we go down i forget my camera, i promise i won't tonight :) well other than that, write later

only 6 weeks left

I can't believe that we only have a little more than 6 weeks left! I am so excited to start school and to move into our apartment. I have some stuff to buy when I am home for next year and I can't wait. Work has been good but stressful. Trash run sucks and dishes are getting old. Lets just say next year I won't be traveling out west! haha.

Fun over staff training!

we have been cooking/washing dishes for a while now. everything seems like i've been doing it for weeks. We have had our fun days though, we had a staff talent show, and we had our BK ceremony, it is when we get our blue scarfs that we collect pins and stuff on that stands for a specific memory or time @ camp. The talent show was so funny..a lot of people made fools of themselves, but more power to them. The weather has been beautiful, a course as soon as i buy a rain jacket. Well soon it will be time for dinner and that means MORE Dishes!!! yay! write later <3

Kids have arrived

The kids have arrived! I'm so excited to see all of them. They are soo cute! I sat with a bunch of them at dinner and they were very polite and nice. It made me wish I was a counselor even though their work is 24/7, I think it would be more rewarding. I hope to make the most of my work and hope to change one kids life, like Jeff said.
The next 7 days I will be working! I hope to feel better tomorrow and to be ready to take on the next week!

Kids Come Wednesday the 17th

It is already Sunday. A week and one day since i arrived! i can't believe how fast time has flown. The kitchen staff is great and I am making some good friends. I think i'm finally adjusted to the altitude, but then i get sick, well i guess you just deal with the hand you get dealt. The weather has become great..still cool in the evenings but still nice. The snow has melted on the mountains, there almost all blue, we had a cookout tonight, the view was AMAZING!! i got some great pics of the town Estes Park and some cute ones of my room mates. Well I suppose next week is going to be a big one at least after wednesday. Write later, <3 Bye

First Week Of Camp

It is Thursday already. A week from yesterday the kiddies will show up! I can't wait! i'm working in the kitchen and my main job is to wash dishes in the dishwasher (thank God i don't have to wash them by hand) and setting tables for the meals! The work is not bad i enjoy the people i work with! one of my favorite jobs is doing the trash run (jk) it is a little entertaining cause you see weird animals in the food pit (trust me you don't want to know what it looks like, i will let your imagination do that) yesterday there was our friend the crow in the pit and sometimes there are bears (even though we have not seen one yet, unfortantely)
I am a little homesick but not nearly what i thought i was going to be. We have tomorrow night off and ALL day on saturday! well that is about it! i did post pics on FB of camp you should check them out! well i will write later ttyl

TOMORROW

I'm packed and ready to go..physically, spiritually and emotionally (i hope). Leave home at 7 a.m. and plane leaves at 10:55 a.m. fly to Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas, then off to the mountains!
Speaking of bears in the mountains, there was one spotted a half a mile down the road SCARY!! if you ask me..mom says she might see one before me haha. i doubt it..but maybe.
I will keep this updated on the bear count!

Four Days

I can't believe how fast this has come. Getting packed and trying to think that a week from today I will be across the country, let me tell you, it is mind blowing. My friend Karin flew out there yesterday, she says "it rocks her socks off" i hope that is the same reaction i get! I'm sure it will be.
This morning when i was cuddling with my puppy I thought how much we are going to miss each other. I play with her more than anybody. Andrea better take my place!!

Back from Kalamazoo

Just got back from Kalamazoo. I went to visit my friend Tristin, whom i haven't seen in over a year! it was great to see her again. we walked downtown and tried to get her BF to buy her an engagement ring (but we were unsuccessful) :( It's sad to think i only have 2 sundays left before i leave. 22 days

I have twenty two days before I leave for Colorado. I can't believe how fast the month of April and May went! I will admit I am sad about leaving home but at the same time I can't wait to see the mountains and all the wildlife. And the whole thing about flying alone isn't much of a comfort. I will keep this updated as much as possible throughout the summer! thanks for reading. <3 Mags
